About Us
Hi, my name is Jacob, I’m 14 years old and I live with my parents Phil and Karen Slater at our restaurant and hotel, The Bowling Green on the outskirts of Banbury in Oxfordshire.
For quite a few years now, at weekends and during school holidays, I’ve been helping out a local cattle farmer tend his herd and have also been learning all about farming, which I love and hope to one day have my own cattle.
My mum and dad have been great and when I talked to them about buying some chicks and rearing some poultry so I could sell their eggs, they said “Go for it” and that’s how Jacob’s farm was born..or hatched!
I now have lots of different breeds of chickens, ducks and geese and recently added turkeys and have bought some lambs and hope soon to get some pigs.
Like mum and dad, I really believe its important that all our animals are cared for properly, are fed and looked after well. We’ve had all of our poultry inoculated, chicks are raised indoors to begin with and all of our chickens, ducks and geese are free range.
